He was known as Vijayeendracharya before sanyasa. ' As he was a great scholar, he was blessed with sanyasa by Sumatheendratheertha and became popular as Upendratheertha. From the hymns composed by his disciple vadeendratheertha, it becomes evident that he was a famous scholar and a great orator. But as he was in the peetha only for three years, more details are not available. His Brindavan alaso is at Srirangam.
